Get packing a special gift this Christmas

Many children's Christmas stockings will be packed with gifts galore.

But for children in developing countries like Bosnia, Serbia, Romania and Kenya, Christmas is just another day.

And that is why a mum from Southsea is organising a packing party, to fill shoe boxes with toys to send out, through the Samaritans' Operation Christmas Child appeal.

Liz Parsons, chairwoman of Portsmouth and Southsea Netmums, wants as many people as possible to bring along shoe boxes of goodies to Eastney Community Centre on Thursday, October 21 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

The 26-year-old said: 'One box can make a child feel special, it really makes a difference to them. These boxes give children something they don't have - hope.

'Everyone is getting Christmas bits in anyway, so I'm hoping they will pick up a few extra presents for children who won't get any.'

Gifts must be new and contain nothing dangerous or war-related.
