Gosport MP welcomes traineeship programme

AN MP has backed plans to set up a new programme to train young people and help them compete for jobs.

Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has welcomed the announcement of a traineeship programme which will see people between 16 and 24 years old being given tailor-made support to help prepare them for a career.

It aims to give them the confidence, skills and experience needed to compete with adults who have years of experience.

The coalition government has published a paper asking for the public’s view on the policy and aims to begin the programme this year.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘This is great news for young people trying to get a foot on the job ladder.

‘It’s so important to equip people with the skills they need to compete and succeed in work.

‘Here in Gosport, 2,000 people started apprenticeships last year and this traineeship programme will help more young people like them compete successfully and get jobs.’
