Gosport woman escapes jail for charity theft

A WOMAN has escaped an immediate jail sentence for stealing a charity box.

Lucy Fletcher, of Nimrod Drive, Gosport, was give a three-month jail sentence suspended for a year for the theft of a box belonging to Scope, the disability charity, in Gosport on March 13.

The 24-year-old was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge by the bench at Fareham Magistrates’ Court, but there was no compensation order because the box was recovered.
