Gosport hit by power cut

GOSPORT was hit by a power cut today affecting a large part of the town.

Up to 585 homes and businesses suffered power loss at 6.20am this morning.

Southern Electric said it suffered a problem with its high voltage network in Zetland Road and sent engineers down to try to restore the supply.

By 8.45am, all but 80 properties had their power restored. By 10am the problem had been fixed.

Penny Porter, spokeswoman for Southern Electric, said: 'We had a team of staff onsite working to restore the supply.'
