A LUNCH club is still cooking thanks to a council grant.
Members of the WRVS lunch club, held every Thursday at Rowlands Castle Parish Hall, can still tuck in to a hot meal every week after their cooker was serviced using a grant from East Hampshire District Council.
Mary Williams, who manages the group, said the £260 grant came at a vital time.
She said: ‘We got the cooker serviced during December.
‘If we hadn’t then our members would have had no Christmas dinner and that would have been a shame.’
She said the 25 members get more than just a hearty meal from the visit and added: ‘The people who come here use it as a way of keeping in touch with each other, of having a good chat and a bit of companionship for a few hours.
‘Important news and information members need to be aware of is also given out.’
