THE man who sparked a major police operation which forced a school to close has admitted sending offensive messages.

Anthony Betsworth, 52, was initially charged with threatening to kill following an incident at a house in Selborne Road, Selborne, East Hampshire.

Police sealed off a six-mile stretch of road through the village, off the A3 north of Petersfield, in the early hours of Wednesday, March 13.

A charge of making threats to kill David Buckland were dropped but Betsworth, of Fathoms Road, Hayling Island, admitted sending two offensive messages when he appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court yesterday(TUES).

The case was adjourned until April 5 for sentencing. Betsworth was released on conditional bail.
