Helping Gosport families tackle problems
A special suite has been set up in a school to help deal with family problems.
The Bridgemary Health and Well Being centre has opened its doors at Bridgemary Community Sports College in Wych Lane, Gosport.
The centre will give advice and guidance to students and their families on topics such as sexual relationships, teenage pregnancy, counselling, and alcohol and substance misuse.
It will also be available for hire for agencies outside of school hours and the school is hoping to attract local health services to use the centre.
Paul Thomas, head of student support at the school, said: 'It's giving awareness, advice and guidance. It's been my dream to have this centre open.
'The idea is that by opening the centre we can support families and children in the area. We haven't been able to offer these facilities in the past.
'Now that we have got this, I am hoping we will encourage more agencies to come here.
'We are really hoping that from here on in, agencies can begin to work towards the needs they have.' The centre has been opened in memory of Pauline Jordan and Chris Jessop - two members of the school team who died recently.
