Hospice plan for baby Charlotte
CHARLOTTE Wyatt's parents and doctors have begun talking about the day when she may finally be able to go home.
Darren and Debbie Wyatt believe their daughter has stabilised enough that she will soon be able to spend weekends in a hospice. According to them she now smiles, reaches out to them, and tries to talk when spoken to.
Ultimately the couple, of Westminster Place, Buckland, want her to be at home with them and her two brothers.
Doctors at St Mary's Hospital have not ruled out such a move, but are understood to believe that Charlotte's health is so fragile that she will still be under their care for months – and still may never go home.
The Wyatts, who recently announced they are expecting a fourth child, met with doctors this week to discuss future treatments for Charlotte, who is now 19 months old and weighs about 15lbs.
Mr Wyatt, 33, said: 'We suggested she could be put in a hospice, maybe at weekends, because it is more of a family environment.
'We also talked about letting her go outside because she has never been able to feel the air on her face, and the doctors are considering both of those things.'
The Wyatts are due to go to the Appeal Court in London on June 23, when they will challenge whether judges have the power to give doctors the right – in advance – not to resuscitate Charlotte if she stops breathing.
