Hospital staff scoop awards for hard work

Hospital staff who have gone above and beyond the call of duty have been honoured.

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust recognised its staff at the Chairman's Awards for Excellence at St Mary's Hospital in Milton, Portsmouth.

Professor David Rhind, chairman of the hospitals trust, awarded 12 individuals and seven teams with Awards for Excellence.

He then presented an additional three awards to staff who have committed 40 years of service to the trust.

Individual winners included: Abbie Aplin, Caroline Cawkill, Romualdo Castro, Michael Collins, John Knighton, Fran Lamusse, Stephen Marper, Christine Moon, Sandra Ponsford, Karen Scott, Gillian Simmons, Claire Winterford.

Team winners included: the diagnostic imaging IT team, hospital guide team, hospital revue team, nuclear medicine physics, TEAMS simulator service, Macmillan dieticians and critical care follow up team.

And the winners of the 40 years service awards were Graham Oughton, Wendy Hamilton and Joy Sanders.

Staff were nominated for awards by colleagues who believe they have made an outstanding contribution .

Winners were then chosen by the trust chairman and chief executive of the trust, Ursula Ward.

Professor Rhind, said: 'I'm delighted to award these talented individuals and teams with the recognition they deserve for their tireless efforts.'

Individual award winners were presented with an engraved crystal bowl and 200. Group winners are presented with a plaque to display in their department and 750.
