Hreidarsson accused of speeding at 109mph

Pompey defender Hermann Hreidarsson could face a driving ban after allegedly speeding at 109mph.

The 35-year-old is accused of breaking the 70mph dual carriageway A35 Puddletown bypass in Dorset on October 3 - the same day Pompey clinched a 1-0 away win at Wolves.

He was due to appear at Bournemouth Magistrates Court on Tuesday but did not attend.

However he was represented by a solicitor and a not guilty plea was entered.

Hreidarsson, of Poole, was allegedly caught by manned equipment.

He now faces up to six points on his licence and a potential driving ban.

Hreidarsson was signed to Pompey by fellow Poole resident Harry Redknapp from Charlton in 2007.

He has also played for Crystal Palace, Brentford, Wimbledon, and Ipswich and is an international player for his native Iceland.

A trial date has been set for July 2.
