Hunt on for man who stole purse from home

AN ELDERLY woman had her purse snatched from her own home.

A man knocked on the door of an 82-year-old woman in St Michael’s Road in Locks Heath, between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday.

He then went into her home where he stole a blue purse containing about £100 in cash.

The suspect was white, in his late 30s, with dark hair, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 10in and of medium build.

He had a local accent and wore a dark jacket.

Police staff investigator Jane Dye from Gosport police station said: ‘I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of St Michael’s Road at the time of this incident and saw anything suspicious

‘Did you see a man running from this direction?

‘Did you receive a knock on your door from an unknown man?

‘The stolen purse was dark blue with a tapestry strip down the front.

‘Please hand this into your local station if found.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact Jane Dye at Gosport police station on 101.
