Injunction blocks personal allegations made about Mike Hancock
Election candidate Mike Hancock has won an injunction against a challenger for the Portsmouth South constituency.
The former MP took Les Cummings of the Justice and Anti-Corruption Party, to court on Friday.
He has prevented Mr Cummings distributing 25,000 leaflets, which contained personal allegations.
The hearing, at Portsmouth's County Court, ran from late morning to early afternoon, and restrictions put in place by the Judge at the court prevent The News revealing much of what was said. But the ruling was clear that the claims had no basis in fact.
The same restrictions apply to Mr Cummings, who must not discuss the proceedings.
A spokesman for Mr Hancock said: 'He has obtained an injunction against Les Cummings to prevent him making allegations against him or his family alleging he or they have committed any criminal offence, and preventing Mr Cummings commenting on the proceedings or their content.'
