TWO men are being hunted by police after £500 was stolen in a distraction theft.

The victim was loading his car which was parked at Petersfield Community Centre, in Love Lane, Petersfield.

Two men approached him and one of them started talking to him.

While the victim was kept talking by the first man, the second man walked towards the car and took a quantity of cash.

Officers have descriptions of two men they would like to speak to and have released CCTV footage in the hope it may help the appeal.

PC David Tester, from Hampshire police, said: ‘These two men planned this theft from a trader who had been working hard all day.

‘One of the men distracted the victim while the other helped himself to approximately £500 in £50 notes from his vehicle.

‘Both men were seen running off in the direction of Tor Way. Do you recognise the men in the CCTV, or do you have any other information about the incident?’

The theft happened between 4pm and 4.40pm on Saturday, July 19. Police only recently released details.

The first man is white, 5ft 10in tall, of stocky build, clean shaven, with short, sandy-coloured hair and wore brown khaki shorts and a T-shirt.

The second man was white, 5ft 10in tall, of athletic build, with dark hair and wore a pink T-shirt and denim jeans.
