John uses his head to raise cash

John Leary had a close shave while helping to raise a huge amount of cash for charity.

John opted to have his head shaved for the campaign 'Jenna's Dream' to help fund a music room in the teenage cancer unit of Southampton General Hospital.

His efforts helped to raise over 2,000 with most of the cash coming from his work colleagues at NXP Semiconductors together with a contribution from the company.

The campaign was started after Hampshire teenager Jenna Hill died of cancer. It is a cause close to John's heart.

John, from Chandler's Ford, was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

The campaign, which hopes to provide a space where teenagers can relax, chill out and spend time with their peers, was part of Wave 105's Cash For Kids charity drive.
