Knife-wielding thieves target Gosport betting shop

A THIEF brandishing a knife forced staff at a betting shop to hand over cash as his accomplice guarded the door.

The two men burst into the Coral betting shop at Queens Parade, Privett Road in Gosport between 8.20pm and 8.25pm on Friday.

One man threatened staff with a large knife and demanded they hand over cash from the till.

He had very pale white skin and was of medium build.

He wore green and brown camouflage waterproof jacket and trousers and carried a large black sports holdall.

The second man, in his late teens to early 20s, also had very pale white skin and was of medium build.

He wore a black padded waterproof jacket.

Both had covered their faces with scarves and wore gloves.

Detective Constable Jamie Fagan from Fareham and Gosport CID said: ‘Were you in the area of Privett Road on the evening of Friday, March 1?

‘Did you see two men matching the description of the suspects?’

‘Thankfully no one was injured during this incident but it is a serious offence and we must track down those responsible.’

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
