THE driver of this vehicle had a lucky escape when it careered off the road, hit a lamppost and ended up in a row of trees.

The accident happened at 5pm on Sunday when the Ford Mondeo left Hulbert Road, in Waterlooville.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene and helped the man free of the vehicle.

He was the only person in the car and no other cars were involved in the accident.

Despite knocking the lamppost clean over the driver suffered only minor injuries.

The man, a 26-year-old from Havant, was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, for a check up.

The police made no arrests following the collision.
