Man guilty of spying at changing rooms

A FATHER has been found guilty of trying to spy on a woman as she changed in a leisure centre cubicle.

Worthing Magistrates’ Court heard that 22-year-old Jamie Cotton had entered Chichester’s Westgate Leisure Centre on March 10 after being out drinking.

During a trial, Cotton claimed he went to the centre to enquire about joining, but felt sick and went to the changing rooms.

Prosecuting Brian Noel said: ‘He took the opportunity, having seen an attractive young woman walk past him and go into a changing room with a young child of four.

‘It may be that the defendant had not noticed the child, but in any event he saw her and went quietly into the changing room next door and tried to take a sneaky photo of her.’

On leaving the cubicle Cotton was confronted by the woman’s husband, who tried to seize his phone.

Cotton ran off and was arrested on April 2.

Cotton, of Adelaide Road, Chichester, will be sentenced on January 27 at Worthing Magistrates’ Court.
