DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a fight outside a pub.

Police were called to the junction of Milton Road and Priory Crescent, near the Brewers Arms.

A 30-year-old man, from Portsmouth, received injuries to his arms after allegedly being attacked by another man who was carrying a knife.

While the men were fighting, there is though to have been a collision involving the suspect and a passing vehicle, described as a taxi.

It happened at 8.44pm on Sunday, December 23.

Detective Constable Julie Way, of Portsmouth CID, said: ‘This was a vicious, violent attack with a weapon.

‘Police are appealing for any witnesses to the fight, and the driver of the vehicle that we believe had a collision with the suspect.’

Anyone who saw the attack or has information should call the CID at Fratton police station by calling 101.

Information can also be given anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
