MINEHUNTER HMS Cattistock is off on a four-month mission in the Mediterranean on Monday.
The Portsmouth-based ship will be part of a multinational force in the area, called Standing Nato Mine Counter Measures Group 2.
Ships from allied nations defend sea routes from the threat of underwater mines and carry out training exercises.
Lieutenant Commander Stephen Higham, the ship’s commanding officer, said: ‘We are well prepared and looking forward to working alongside our allies.’
HMS Cattistock sails at around 11am.
