MoD says don't post parcels

The Ministry of Defence has moved to stop its postal service clogging up by urging people to hold back parcels.

It is the third year running that the MoD has faced a logjam as relatives try to send presents to serving troops, which can cause large delivery delays.

Instead, it has asked them to contact the charities Support Our Soldiers and Thank the Forces.

They send controlled numbers of parcels to troops on the front line, which minimises disruption to the postal system.
