A stunned car owner woke this morning to the sound of his vehicle being hit in a Portsmouth road drama.

Charles Weighten of Raglan Street, was woken at m around 2.30am when a car crashed into his parked Nissan Serena.

Police are investigating the incident and it is believed that a second parked vehicle, a Ford Transit van, was also hit.

It is thought two people involved were injured.

It is believed that the driver of a Vauxhall Astra lost control of the vehicle whilst going round a corner.

Both stationary vehicles were seriously damaged.

Mr Weighten said: ‘I was in bed asleep and I heard a crash outside.

‘I looked out and saw that my car had been damaged in an accident.

‘On closer inspection I saw that my car was beyond repair and that it would be a write off.

‘I need my car to get around, but what is frustrating is that I need it to get back up to Scotland to visit my mother who is currently unwell.

‘I will not be able to do this now and will have to find another way to make the journey.’
