TRAFFIC has now cleared following a pile-up on the on the M27.
The first accident happened just before 8am between junctions 9 and 10 at Fareham, with emergency vehicles currently at the scene.
Five cars were scattered across the hard shoulder and the fast lane, with some facing the wrong direction, and lane three has been closed.
The cars involved were a Renault, Mercedes, Vauxhall, Volkswagen and a Ford. The driver of the Renault was cut free from his vehicle by firefighters and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
An ambulance was sent to a second collision, which happened just two minutes later, between two vehicles at junction 12 at the Portsmouth junction. There were no serious injuries.
Lanes two and three were closed on this stretch of the motorway while a BMW and a Citroen were recovered. That part of the motorway is now open but motorists have been warned to expect severe delays around junction nine.
