Mourners say final goodbye to tragic Julie

Mourners were told to wear colourful clothes to represent the life of a mum found stabbed to death.

Family and friends fought back tears as they said a final goodbye to Julie Sudlow at her funeral.

The 41-year-old was found dead at a bungalow in Maralyn Avenue, Waterlooville, on August 7, as reported in The News.

Hours earlier her former partner Stewart Shaw, 45, who lived at the house and is believed to have murdered her, died after jumping under a train at Winchester train station.

The pair were due to be married on August 3, but the wedding was called off after Mrs Sudlow, from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, alleged he had punched her in the face.

Shaw, a father-of-two and former soldier, had been charged with assault and was due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court earlier this month.

A private funeral was held for Mrs Sudlow at Oxford Crematorium on Tuesday.

The family requested that mourners wear colourful clothes to the service, instead of the normal black.

After the service tributes to Julie were posted onto social networking site Facebook, which she regularly used.

Friend Joanne Cair said: 'They did you proud today Jules.'

An online memorial has also been set up on the website Gonetoosoon. Her sister Sharon Malone wrote: 'Although I can no longer see you or hug you, my memories grow stronger. No chance to say a proper goodbye but you are my sister and I can hold my head up high.

'Love you always. Missing you so much all ready.'

Police launched a murder inquiry into Mrs Sudlow's death but have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection.

Inquests have now been opened into both deaths.

Julie, known as Jules, leaves behind her children Andrew, Ashley, Nick and Martin and parents Gordon and Marian.

Donations from the funeral were given to The Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
