GOSPORT MP Caroline Dinenage has welcomed a government plan to bring in tax-free childcare.
The government yesterday announced it will pay 20 per cent of childcare costs for working families in autumn 2015, after the next general election.
The system will be phased in, with the tax savings on childcare for children under five years old available in the first year, before older children are included.
The scheme will gradually expand to include children up to the age of 12 years old.
The government says families will save up to £1,200 a year for each child under 12 years old.
Ms Dinenage said: ‘This is a boost direct to the pockets of hard-working families and will hugely benefit parents across the Gosport peninsula who are desperate to get back to work, but are put off by costly childcare services.
‘It shows that the government is committed to helping families make ends meet.’
