MP supports plans to tackle unemployment among young

THE MP for the Meon Valley has praised the government’s plans to tackle youth unemployment.

It comes as record numbers of people in the Meon Valley have started apprenticeships in 2011/12. Provisional results for the number of apprenticeship starts in August to October last year show 340 people started them in the area in just three months.

George Hollingbery, pictured right, said: ‘These figures for the Meon Valley are most encouraging and I hope it shows that there is now a structure in place to get people into jobs that matter to them, that will give them a career and that will help the economy. The fact is we will only succeed as a country when everyone is given the chance to reach their full potential. These apprenticeships have the capacity to transform the lives of people by the opportunities they offer.’
