No complaints about complaints

THE way complaints are handled at Portsmouth City Council has been marked down as satisfactory.

In 55 cases looked at by the local government ombudsman, no evidence of maladministration – defined as finding fault in the way the council has, or has not, dealt with some- thing – was found.

The council has also been commended for halving the time it takes to respond to complaints when compared with last year.

The praise has come after new training schemes were introduced at the council to improve services dealing with sensitive cases and house repair complaints.

Chief executive David Williams said: 'We are delighted with the ombudsman's comments.'
