POLICE have decided that no crime took place in a subway where an 18-year-old woman claimed she was attacked by two men.

It comes after Hampshire Police investigated reports that an 18-year-old was assaulted in an underpass below Market Way Roundabout in Portsmouth at around 3.20am on Monday.

Officers have now found no evidence of any criminal activity.

The cause of minor injuries sustained by the woman has been identified, but police have not said how they were sustained.

Police say that despite rumours circulating on social media, the incident was not linked to Operation Bedham.

That is an investigation being led by the Hampshire Major Investigation Team into attacks on three women in Portsmouth between June and July 11 this year. A 17-year-old boy from Hilsea has been charged with attempted murder.

He is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on July 30.
