THE former commanding officer of HMS Illustrious has backed plans to turn the ship into a tourist attraction in Hull.
As previously reported, the northern city is looking into turning the Portsmouth-based aircraft carrier into a museum and events venue based on the river Humber after it is decommissioned in 2014.
Vice Admiral Bob Cooling said: ‘It’s exactly what Hull needs and it’s exactly what the whole region needs.’
