Pair accused of stealing Gosport sailor Alex Thomson’s boat face trial

TWO men have pleaded not guilty to stealing a 30ft rigid inflatable boat belonging to round-the-world sailor Alex Thomson.

The boat, worth about £66,000, was taken from Northney Marina, Hayling Island, on August 9 last year.

Jerry Russett, 54, of Tamarisk Road, Hedge End, and Alex Everrett, 42, of Astrid Close, Hayling Island, pleaded not guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court.

The case will now be put before a jury, with a trial expected in April.
