Pam's big day will be a charity tea dance

For most people a birthday is a day of receiving gifts.

But for Pam Langworthy it will be a day of giving as she prepares to hold a charity tea dance on her 70th birthday.

She has decided to hold the event after her husband, Graham, passed away last year, and she wanted to do something to help others.

The Twenties-style dance with afternoon tea will be in aid of The Rowans Hospice, Purbrook, chosen because Pam lives nearby.

She said: 'Had my husband been alive I would have had a birthday party. But instead I have decided to do something for others.

'The music will be a variety of old and modern dance music, and if people dress up it will be more fun.'

The event, on August 2, will be held at the Royal Beach Hotel, South Parade, Southsea, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

There will be dancing, optional Twenties-style dressing-up, a raffle and an afternoon tea. Tickets cost 6.50 and include afternoon tea.

For information or tickets contact Pam on (023) 9226 5248.
