Paramedics are flying high
The air ambulance now has double the man power as new paramedics have joined the team.
A group of new paramedics are set to take to the sky with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and attend emergencies across the area.
The new recruits, some of whom have worked for South Central Ambulance Service and one for the Isle of Wight ambulance service, are joining the five original crew members.
They have all been training at Thruxton, alongside a fellow paramedic who will be joining the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.
John Perry, chief executive of the air ambulance charity, said: 'Following a gruelling application and training programme, we are enormously pleased to welcome five highly skilled paramedics to the team.
'Each of them has many years of experience within the ambulance service.
'The extra training required to fly with the air ambulance means that our crews have skills of the highest calibre.'
The air ambulance charity provides a lifeline to injured and sick people. But the charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on generous donations.
