PASSENGERS on a ferry were stranded for two hours after the ship could not dock.
Wightlink’s 7.03pm St Clare Fishbourne to Portsmouth Harbour service could not dock when it arrived at 7.30pm.
Passengers were stranded for two hours while the crew waited for conditions to improve.
Winds were up to 70 miles per hour at the time and St Clare’s captain decided to return to Fishbourne.
Passengers and vehicles were let off and left port to allow sister ship St Faith dock.
The Portsmouth to Ryde catamaran service was suspended earlier today.
Services are now running on a trip-by-trip basis, meaning captains are deciding whether or not to sail.
