Patients evacuated in hospital bomb alert

Patients were evacuated from a hospital after a bomb alert.

The drama happened after a suspicious package was spotted under a car parked outside the Royal Hospital Haslar in Gosport.

A 100-meter cordon was imposed around the vehicle as a Royal Navy bomb disposal squad investigated the package.

Steve Partridge, spokesman for the Ministry of Defence Police, said: 'Some patients were evacuated from the hospital and the team then carried out a controlled explosion.'

The alert started at 12.30pm on Wednesday March 25 and the all-clear was sounded just over three hours later.
