Police car involved in Portsmouth crash

A police car has been involved in a crash in Portsmouth.

The two-vehicle collision happened near to the miniroundabout at the Locksway Road junction with Milton Road in Milton this morning.

A Hampshire Police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 11.01am to a collision involving a marked Skoda Octavia police car.

‘Inside the car were a police officer and a member of police staff.

‘It collided with a Renault Clio being driven by a man who received injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

‘Both vehicles have been recovered from the scene.’

John Grant, 50, of Oakdene Road, Southsea, who witnessed the aftermath of the incident, said: ‘I live at the bottom of Locksway Road. I’ve nearly been written off three times by people who come flying down the road.

‘That roundabout needs something seriously done.

‘People don’t always realise it’s there.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hampshire police on 101.
