Police drink-driving campaign success

ANOTHER 17 people have been convicted of drink-driving offences as part of a police crackdown.

The convictions mean a total of 45 people have now been dealt with by the courts as part of Sussex Police’s Christmas campaign.

Of the 17 arrested, 15 admitted drink-driving while two pleaded guilty to failing to give a specimen for analysis, after officers stopped their vehicles and asked them to.

Chief Inspector Natalie Moloney said: ‘Although the majority of those convicted have been for drink-driving offences, a number have also been dealt with for refusing to be breathalysed after they were stopped.

‘If you think you can avoid a driving conviction by not being breathalysed, think again. We will prosecute you and you will be punished.’

To report dangerous driving call 999.
