A Hampshire police motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a road accident.
The officer was talken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital after he was in collision with a car on the A31 between Four Marks and Chawton near Alton yesteday afternoon
Police said that the officer, who is in his 40s, was responding to an emergency called to an incident involving a single vehicle on the A31 when the accident happened. His BMW motorbike was involved in a collision with a yellow Audi S3 car.
The officer suffered serious injuries, which were initially thought to be life-threatening. Today his condition was described as critical but stable.
