HAMPSHIRE Constabulary is investigating whether one of its officers behaved inappropriately to a teenager.
Christopher Jackson, 16, had finished playing with three friends on the pavement outside his home in Park Lane, Cowplain, when two men came along and confronted him on the driveway.
His family say one of the men grabbed Christopher by the throat, dragged him across the drive and bent him over a fence before telling him off.
He told the teenager he had been provoking traffic on the street with his friends.
After letting him go, the man and his accomplice got into a car and drove off.
The incident happened at about 10pm on Friday last week.
Christopher’s dad Paul Jackson, 50, has since lodged a complaint to Hampshire police because he thinks the suspects, who wore earpieces and had notepads, were police officers.
‘I am absolutely fuming about what has happened,’ Mr Jackson said.
‘I was out when this happened but Christopher sent me a text to say he had been told off by someone.
‘But when I got home he admitted it was a bit more than that.
‘If it was a police officer then I am extremely disappointed because I have always taught Christopher the importance of respecting them.
‘It’s just unbelievable.’
Christopher, a pupil at Cowplain Community School, said he was scared to go out after the incident.
‘As soon as the man grabbed me by the throat my mind went blank,’ he said.
‘I didn’t think I had done anything wrong.
‘My friends can’t believe what’s happened.
‘I hate leaving the house now.’
Hampshire police confirmed a complaint had been received.
A spokesman said the matter was being looked at by the Professional Standards Department, which handles complaints about police officers, staff and special constables.
