Police rule out crime in Havant alleyway death riddle

Police have said the death of a man that caused much of Havant town centre to be cordoned off is not suspicious.

A post-mortem examination has revealed that Andy Mould, a 60-year-old plumber of Market Parade, Havant, died from natural causes.

As reported in The News, his body was found by a shop-worker in an alleyway at Market Parade, just yards from his front door, shortly before midnight on Monday.

The discovery sparked a massive police and forensic investigation that saw a large part of the town centre and Havant Park cordoned off early on Tuesday morning.

Mr Mould had been drinking at the Robin Hood pub in Havant shortly before he died.

Detective Inspector Gary Hill said: 'The early indications are that this man died as a result of natural causes.

'At this stage we do not believe he was attacked or came to any harm on the streets of Havant and I would like to thank the witnesses who have come forward and helped us with our inquiry.'

An exact cause of death has not yet been established, but Mr Mould's death has been referred to the coroner.
