Police urge caution as rain lashes roads

POLICE urged people to drive carefully this morning as motorists face more rain on the roads.

Drivers can expect delays across the area as downpours continue to batter the roads.

But while the rest of the country faces major flood warnings, the Environment Agency has not issued any weather warnings for the Portsmouth area, including Gosport, Fareham, Havant and Emsworth.

Hampshire Constabulary’s roads policing unit tweeted today: ‘Nasty this morning! Please look out for surface water, slow down, increase distances from others and allow extra time for your journey.’

South West Trains is reporting it has good service on its Portsmouth lines.
