Police welcome confirmation of Gosport killer driver’s nine-year sentence

Hampshire Police today welcomed the decision to uphold killer driver Samuel Etherington’s nine-year jail sentence.

Judges at the Court of Appeal today ruled that the sentence imposed on Etherington for ploughing into and killing two friends should stand.

Jasmine Allsop and Olivia Lewry died in the tragedy.

Senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Dick Pearson of the Hampshire Major Investigation Team said: ‘“Hampshire Constabulary welcomes that the sentence has been upheld.

“We’d like to thank the families of Jasmine and Olivia for their immense courage throughout this exceptionally traumatic case. Our thoughts remain with next-of-kin”.
