Police seek witnesses to late-night double brawl

FIVE men have been arrested following a late-night brawl.

A fight started between the men in the alleyway near Chapelside and Titchfield Square in Titchfield.

It was eventually broke up about 11.30pm on Saturday, with two of the men walking up Southampton Hill and the other three being picked up by a car.

But the two groups met again about 12.10am on top of Southampton Hill where they fought again.

Most of those involved sustained cuts and bruises.

Police were called and five local men - 18, 20, two aged 21, and a 42-year-old - have been arrested on suspicion of a range of offences and bailed until November.

Detective Constable Katie Wakefield said: 'Titchfield is generally a quiet and peaceful area and this kind of incident is rare, but we take reports of violence extremely seriously.

'There would probably have been quite a few people leaving pubs in Titchfield on Saturday night who may have witnessed these fights, and I would appeal to anyone who saw anything to get in touch with us.

'This incident involved a large number of men and it would help our investigation to speak to as many independent witnesses as possible to establish exactly what happened.'
