Police want help to catch Saints and Pompey fans

Ten images of football supporters who police want to question about football related violence at the Saints v Pompey FA Cup game have been released.

Violence flared at the Southampton v Portsmouth FA Cup game at St Mary's Stadium on February 13.

Police have now trawled through hours of film and CCTV and have now released ten of those images in the hope that the public may be able to identify them, or the people involved recognise themselves and contact officers direct.

Eleven people were arrested and charged mainly with public order offences after the match and since then a number of officers have been working to find those others involved.

Detective Inspector Linda Howard said: 'We are working hard to find those few supposed football fans who decided to mar the day by resorting to violence. Luckily for most of the 32,000 fans that went to the game it was a great sporting day out even if the result wasn't what some would have liked.

'We are now through asking for the publics help in locating the people in the pictures we are releasing today as we suspect they may have been involved in football related violence that day.

'It would be even better for those in the pictures, if they see themselves, to get in contact with us direct rather than waiting for us to coming knocking on their door. If they don't they can be sure we will inevitably track them down and arrest them.'

Officers from the Operation Austen Team are working in conjunction with the club and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to find, arrest and charge where appropriate anyone found acting violently at or around the game.

Most of those originally charged have already been before the courts and sentenced.

They will also be looking to get football banning order against those involved.
