Pompey stars take off on Euro adventure

Pompey players and staff left stranded at Southampton Airport after the company that was due to fly them out for their UEFA Cup match in Germany went bust have finally left the country.

Thomson Sport had arranged for Flightline Limited, based at Southend Airport, to fly the players out on a small plane to Braunschweig at 2pm for tomorrow's game against Wolfsburg.

But Thomson Sport had to make emergency contingency plans after Flightline unexpectedly went into administration.

A team press conference and training at Wolfsburg's stadium had to be put back because of the delay.

A second plane, from German company WDL, was flown in from Cologne to transport the players who left at 4pm, two hours after the planned time.
