Protesters calling for support against lab
Animal rights protesters are to hold a demonstration outside an animal testing laboratory as a mark of solidarity with a monkey who has become a symbol of their fight.
Numerous activists from across the region are expected to gather outside Wickham Labs in Wickham tomorrow for the protest.
Felix, a macaque monkey being used in experiments at Oxford University, became a cause celebre for protesters after he appeared in a TV documentary last year where he was shown being used in research into Parkinsons.
SPEAK, the animal rights group which is campaigning against the research lab, has called for support.
Helen Nelson, the animal rights activist from Gosport dubbed the granarchist, said: 'We have got quite a lot of support from the local people.'
The protesters will be outside the labs on Winchester Road from 10am to midday, and will be dressed as various animals and handing out leaflets.
