POLICE are investigating after a teacher received a threatening telephone call.
Parents of pupils at Purbrook Park School, in Park Avenue, Waterlooville, were sent text messages by the school telling them the children had to be off the school premises at 3pm – 20 minutes earlier than usual.
It is believed a teacher received a threatening call from a disgruntled parent of a child who had been recently suspended.
Angry parents bombarded Hampshire Constabulary’s Facebook page demanding more information.
One mum posted on the site: ‘Hardly reassuring for parents when you phone the school to ask what’s going on only to be told a pack of lies.’
In response a dad of one of the pupils posted, said: ‘Agree with that.
‘They told me that there weren’t enough staff to manage after-school clubs and detentions.
‘Nothing about any threats.’
The incident is alleged to have happened this afternoon.
In a statement police said: ‘There is no information to suggest any wider risk to the community.
‘No-one has been physically threatened, assaulted or injured at the school.
‘Officers visiting the school ton Friday to establish more information from staff and to provide reassurance to parents and pupils.
‘Police are making enquiries in the community to locate a man with information about the phone call.’
