Queen Elizabeth Country park recognised with ninth Green Flag award

IT IS official – one of the best parks in the country is on our doorstep.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park, in Horndean, has been awarded a Green Flag by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy. The award recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country.

A Green Flag is a sign to the public that the space boasts high standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park has over 2,000 acres of woodland and downland to explore on foot or bicycle.

Visitor service manager Tim Speller said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the ninth year from Keep Britain Tidy.

‘This award recognises and highlights that people in Horndean are benefitting from a green space of the very highest quality.’

Almost 1,500 parks across the country have received the award.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: ‘We are delighted to announce yet another record-breaking year for Green Flag Award parks and green spaces.

‘A Green Flag Award provides national recognition for all the parks managers, staff and volunteers who, through their dedication and hard work, have helped to create these fantastic places for everyone to enjoy.’
