AFTER spending a year sailing around the world, Andy Milner has helped raise an amazing £25,000 for a children's charity.

Andy took part in the Clipper Challenge race as a member of Team Finland and kept in touch with Fareham's Rainbow Centre, for youngsters with cerebral palsy, sending them postcards en route and setting them questions on his blog.

And when he came back to the centre to talk about his experiences, he was presented with a cake to celebrate his homecoming.

Andy, from Chandlers Ford, said: 'I have had a fantastic year and would like to say thanks to those I left back home for giving me a great send off in Gosport and welcome home in Hull and to my fellow crew members for putting up with me.'

Helen Somerset How, the centre's chief executive, said: 'This has been an amazing project for the children to follow.'
