FAREHAM Borough Council has confirmed that no evidence of ash dieback – a disease of ash trees that can lead to tree death – has been found in the town.
Ash dieback is caused by a fungus which results in leaf loss.
The council urged residents to remain vigilant and report any symptoms to their tree team who will contact the Forestry Commission.
Councillor Keith Evans, executive member for strategic planning and environment, said: ‘No ash dieback has been found in Fareham but we’ve put in place monitoring arrangements to make sure we can respond quickly if we need to.’
