Report bad behaviour on the web

Residents can now report antisocial behaviour in their neighbourhoods over the internet.

People living in Denmead, Bishop's Waltham, Whiteley, Knowle and Wickham can lodge complaints on everything from nuisance neighbours to yobbish behaviour on their local council's website.

And they don't have to use their name for fear of reprisals.

Winchester City Council hopes it will encourage people to report more incidents. Resident Andy Hawthorn, 27, of The Spring, Denmead, says it is a good idea.

'It just makes it more convenient being able to jump online and report things,' he said.

'And being able to report every kind of anti-social behaviour, instead of just fly tipping and graffiti, is a great idea.'

Other councils in the area have similar forms.

Residents in Fareham, Havant and Portsmouth can report graffiti, abandoned vehicles and fly-tipping on the internet, while Gosport Borough Council is yet to provide an online service.

Winchester's is the most comprehensive yet.

Winchester Cllr John Cooper, who is in charge of communities and safety, said: 'Winchester City Council is dedicated to tackling antisocial behaviour across the district. With this online reporting form, Winchester City Council is providing an additional way for residents to report incidents of antisocial behaviour; helping us to improve the quality of life for our residents'

To report antisocial behaviour visit www. winchester.gov.uk/asb, and complete a reporting form. Winchester council has defined antisocial behaviour as being anything that causes alarm, distress or harassment, to people not living in the same household.

These incidents can be reported online: nuisance neighbours, yobbish behaviour, intimidating groups taking over public places, vandalism, graffiti, fly tipping, dealing and buying drugs on the streets, people dumping rubbish and abandoned cars, antisocial drinking, misuse of fireworks and reckless driving of mini-motorbikes.
