A SAILOR serving on board HMS Richmond has been able to return home for the first time in more than 12 years.
Leading Seaman Warfare Specialist Jamie Fowler left his family and home in St Helena for a career in the Royal Navy.
But the ship took him home recently, as she stopped off there as part of her Atlantic Patrol Tasking to provide emergency services support to the community. The island is British territory.
LS Fowler said: ‘Having the opportunity to show my family where I work and live whilst deployed has been fantastic and for them to see the captain present my good conduct badge has been the icing on the cake.’
Jamie now lives in Portsmouth with his wife, Dione, and son, Tyrell. HMS Richmond is undertaking a seven-month deployment in the Atlantic.
